Morale was low in the locker room Sunday night following the Montreal Canadiens' loss in Game 4 of their series against the Washington Capitals.

What stood out from this game, both in the media, among fans, and inside the locker room, was the officiating during the game.
According to many, the Habs were victims throughout the game, and the officials turned a blind eye once again.
One of the plays that was heavily discussed was Tom Wilson's hit on Alexandre Carrier.
Not only was Wilson not penalized (for head contact or even assault), but play continued and led to the Caps' tying goal just seconds later.

Jakub Dobes Doesn't Understand the Officials' Decision

It's hard to understand the referees' decision not to stop play on that sequence.
It's probably because Carrier, being a true warrior, immediately went to the bench and didn't stay on the ice.
One of those who expected to hear a whistle on that play was goaltender Jakub Dobes.
After the game, he unleashed his frustration not only at the officials but also, indirectly, at the League.
"I guess I don't know the rules.

I feel like the referees should have blown the whistle.

I mean, it was scary, but I guess the rules don't apply to everyone in this league."

- Jakub Dobes
Dobes was also very critical of the opposing captain, Alexander Ovechkin. The goalie is convinced that Ovechkin's hit on Jake Evans deserved a suspension.
"I thought that deserved at least a one-game suspension," said Dobes, speaking about Ovechkin's hit on Evans.

"Apparently, it's not the case. I don't know what to say.

I have to be careful. It's unfortunate."

- Jakub Dobes

Also, check out Dobes' reaction in the first few seconds of the following video:
Dobes even demanded a change regarding the two officials.
"Jakub Dobes doesn't want to see referees Dan O'Rourke and Frederick L'Ecuyer in Washington for Game 5."

Martin St-Louis Feels Powerless in Front of His Players

For his part, Habs coach Martin St-Louis was in shock after the game.
He admitted he no longer knows what to say to his players and doesn't really understand how officiating works during these playoffs anymore.
It would have been nice if the officials had received the memo too, no?
