The Montreal Canadiens made a very interesting jersey change for young defenseman Arber Xhekaj.
The most observant fans watching tonight's preseason game against the Toronto Maple Leafs may have already noticed, but there was a nice little change in look for Xhekaj.
He is now wearing an "A" as he was named assistant captain for tonight's game.
It's a strong vote of confidence and shows once again how highly the Canadiens think of him.
A nice change for Arber Xhekaj
Check out his great reaction when the Habs made the jersey change just minutes before the game in Toronto.
What a sight! You can tell it really made him happy.
Yes, the Sheriff has a new badge on his jersey!
"Arber brings joy to some fans And.. he has an "A" on his jersey tonight. A nice mark of respect for the Sheriff."
- Marc-Olivier Cook
So tonight's game is another very important one for him, if he truly wants to start the season in Martin St-Louis' regular lineup-right ahead of Jayden Struble.
At 23 years old, Arber Xhekaj is a 6-foot-4, 240-pound left-shot defenseman who has recorded 23 points in 95 career NHL games (182 penalty minutes).
