We once again had quite a bit of action on the NHL waiver wire today, notably involving Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.

As we reported to you in the last few minutes, the 5 players placed on waivers yesterday by the Habs all cleared waivers freely.
That said, there are new players available today!

We have action on the NHL waiver wire, including a big surprise

Since the Montreal Canadiens have the sixteenth pick (for claiming players off waivers), please note that there are indeed two surprises today among the available names.
The biggest surprise is without a doubt Skyler Brind'Amour.
Not only is he a good young promising forward, but above all, he is the son of Carolina Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour.
It's really surprising to see the Canes place him on waivers!
Let's just say it would be quite ironic to see another team claim him, and to see another team help him blossom in the NHL!
It's a bit like if Oliver Kapanen were Martin St-Louis' son, and the Montreal Canadiens immediately placed him on waivers.
A story to follow, but I really can't wait to see if Brind'Amour will be claimed tomorrow!
The other surprise is, of course, Quebec forward Nicolas Aubé-Kubel, who could be a nice option for Kent Hughes, especially if the Habs were to lose someone like Samuel Blais on waivers.
Skyler Brind'Amour is a left-handed centerman, standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 195 pounds, who has collected 1 point in two NHL games.
