Martin St-Louis briefly shook up the Canadiens' top line last night, promoting Zachary Bolduc over Juraj Slafkovsky for a short-lived experiment.

But by the end of the game, St-Louis had already reversed the move and put the original trio back together.

St-Louis surprises with a short-lived top-line change

For the first time in a very long time, St-Louis broke up his first line of Cole Caufield, Nick Suzuki, and Juraj Slafkovsky in order to put Zachary Bolduc with Caufield and Suzuki!
As for Slafkovsky, he was placed on a line with Oliver Kapanen and Ivan Demidov for last night's game in Columbus.
That said, these changes didn't last very long.

Martin St-Louis makes another change and immediately sends Juraj Slafkovsky back to the first line with Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield

No, it didn't take long.

This seems to be a failed experiment for forward Zachary Bolduc, who was also stapled to the bench for most of the third period.
Finally, even though Patrik Laine is currently injured, he remains the type of player the Canadiens desperately lack. His absence only highlights how much Montreal could use his powerful shot to spark the power play.
Injuries are really starting to hurt the Canadiens this season, and Laine's situation is becoming more and more damaging.
Bolduc, 22, has 6 points in 19 games this season, including four goals (almost all scored in the first games of the year).
Juraj Slafkovsky, 21, has 9 points in 19 games this season, including 6 goals, with a +6 rating.
With injuries piling up and the offense struggling to find consistency, St-Louis may continue experimenting with his lines. Bolduc and Slafkovsky will stay under the microscope as the Canadiens search for stability and a spark heading into the next stretch of games.
