The Montreal Canadiens officially missed out on forward John Beecher today, as the 24-year-old was claimed by the Calgary Flames.
John Beecher is claimed off NHL waivers!
He has been claimed by the Calgary Flames!
This means Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens didn't even get the opportunity to claim Beecher, since the Flames are ahead of the Canadiens in the waiver-priority order.
The order is simply the reverse of the overall standings.
"Calgary claims Beecher."

John Beecher, 24 years old, is a 6-foot-3, 220-pound center who was the 30th overall pick by the Boston Bruins in 2019 (first-round pick).
He played with the renowned US National Development Team (20 points in 27 games) and has 22 points in 136 career NHL games.
We have strong reasons to believe the Canadiens attempted to claim Beecher, but Calgary simply beat them to it.
A new opportunity for the Canadiens
However, even though the Canadiens couldn't get Beecher, there's something better!
Young forward
Philip Tomasino has been placed on waivers by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
There it is, another possible solution!
Tomasino is a young talent with plenty of upside. He's a former first-round pick, drafted 24th overall by the Nashville Predators in 2019.
Are you disappointed the Flames beat Montreal to Beecher? Or do you think Tomasino is the better fit?
