'That Move Surprised Me': Bob Hartley Reacts to Kent Hughes' Superb Acquisition

The excellent Bob Hartley recently commented on the superb summer acquisition by Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.
In an interview with the excellent RG Media network, Hartley indeed came back to Kent Hughes and the Habs' big summer acquisition, defenseman Noah Dobson.
It is always interesting to have the opinion of a true hockey expert.
As a reminder, on the day of the 2025 NHL Draft, the Canadiens sent two 1st-round picks + Emil Heineman (to the New York Islanders) in exchange for Dobson.
Today, after only a few periods of preseason games, it is already clear just how big of an impact young Dobson will have on the Canadiens' success.
They may only be preseason games, but it's already easy to see that the Habs have landed an elite No. 1 or No. 2 NHL defenseman.

He too has noticed what we have all seen since the start of Habs training camp.

Bob Hartley also admitted he was very surprised by this trade.
"That trade surprised me. Dobson is a stud, is still very young, and hasn't even reached his full potential. Kent Hughes is building Montreal piece by piece-he got Bolduc and Dobson this summer," explained Hartley.
"It's still a young team, but very promising. Dobson will be a top defenseman there for many years."
