We have action on the NHL waiver wire, as the Montreal Canadiens have just placed five players there.
And now the Habs have placed multiple players on waivers. There is a surprise up front, as young
Sean Farrell has been made available completely free for the other National Hockey League teams, even though he had just recently earned praise from Martin St-Louis.
It's surprising, especially considering his excellent finish to the 2024-25 season, but it must also be admitted that it really seemed more likely to come down to
Samuel Blais, Joe Veleno,
Oliver Kapanen,
Owen Beck, and
Florian Xhekaj (for the final available spots up front).
Kent Hughes immediately places 5 players on the NHL waiver wire, including forward Sean Farrell
See the official announcement.
We will therefore have a verdict in 24 hours as to whether (yes or no) one of these players has been claimed on waivers by another team in the NHL.
Sean Farrell, 23 years old, is a 5-foot-9, 175-pound forward who was a 4th-round pick of the Montreal Canadiens in 2020, therefore, a pick from the Marc Bergevin / Trevor Timmins regime.
Last season, he collected 44 points in 67 games with the Laval Rocket.
It would be a heavy loss for Pascal Vincent's squad if he is claimed elsewhere.
