Sidney Crosby Reportedly Met With His Agent and Family to Discuss His Future

For several months now, Sidney Crosby's name has been circulating in trade rumors - including right here in Montreal with the Canadiens.
Well-known insiders, such as Pierre LeBrun, have already mentioned that Kent Hughes and the Canadiens would be willing to do just about anything to acquire Sidney Crosby, if he gives the green light to a trade.
There's even a sense that the Penguins are absolutely open to trading Crosby - but they would need his approval first.
So ultimately, it's entirely in his hands.

This is a major development, reported by the well-known insider Darren Dreger.

So, is Sidney Crosby now actually considering accepting a trade?
If it's reached that point, it's clear that the Montreal Canadiens would be among the few finalists to acquire Crosby.
There will be plenty of competition, but Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton can offer him exactly what he wants, and will undoubtedly be right in the thick of it.
Now 38 years old, Sidney Crosby recorded 91 points in 80 games during the 2024-2025 season, including 33 goals. He had previously scored 94 and 93 points in the two seasons before that - so yes, he remains an extremely dominant player.
This will definitely be a fascinating story to follow, especially if the Penguins indeed have another poor start to the season.
