We Finally Know What Was Said Between Maurice and Brind'Amour During Their Awkward Handshake Snub
The Panthers' head coach, Paul Maurice, did not come over to shake hands with the opposing players.
Afterward, he had a discussion, which seemed rather intense, with Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour.
This sparked a lot of reactions online, with many wondering what had just happened.
Today, we have an explanation.
Paul Maurice believes the handshake line is only for players!
And that's exactly what he explained to his Hurricanes counterparts, including Brind'Amour, who clearly didn't seem to be a fan of the idea.
Here are Maurice's full comments:
"It's a personal opinion... [...]
There are a bunch of people in suits on the ice at the end of a series, but none of them played in the games.
To me, the cameras should only be on the players at center ice who battled through the series.
One team is celebrating their win, the other is crushed by the end of their season.
The last thing the Hurricanes players deserve is to shake hands with 50 more people they have no idea who they are."
