Former Member of the Montreal Canadiens Packs His Bags and Leaves for the KHL

It wasn't a very well-kept secret, but it has just been confirmed for former Montreal Canadiens assistant coach Gerard Gallant.
While some rumors had him joining Martin St-Louis as an assistant in Montreal (rumors that circulated last year), he is instead packing his bags for the KHL.

Let's just say that this KHL team will have an excellent head coach, and it will be a great way for them to get off on the right foot.
Gerard Gallant, 61 years old, is a Canadian coach who also played 615 games in the National Hockey League. He recorded 480 points in 615 games, including 211 goals, along with 1,674 penalty minutes.
He was a 6th-round pick of the Detroit Red Wings in 1981 and played for the Sherbrooke Castors as well as the Verdun Juniors (in the QMJHL).
Gerard Gallant has also been a well-known coach in the NHL:
* From 2001 to 2004 as an assistant with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
* From 2004 to 2007 as head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
* From 2004 to 2007 as head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
He also served as an assistant coach for the New York Islanders and the Montreal Canadiens, before becoming head coach of the Florida Panthers in 2014.
After that, he was also head coach for the Vegas Golden Knights as well as the New York Rangers (until 2023).
