We finally have a verdict from the NHL Department of Player Safety following the game between the Canadiens and the Senators.

Two sanctions were indeed announced for two Ottawa Senators players, but we're only talking about fines here.
To my great surprise, Nick Cousins gets away without a suspension after his dangerous and cowardly act against young Ivan Demidov.
It looks like a blatant attempt to injure isn't enough to hand out a suspension.. Well then!

Two fines handed out to two Ottawa Senators players following the incidents involving Alex Newhook and Ivan Demidov last night

See the two releases.
"Ottawa's Hayden Hodgson has been fined $2,018.23, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for boarding Montreal's Alex Newhook."

- NHL Department of Player Safety
"Ottawa's Nick Cousins has been fined $2,148.44, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for slashing Montreal's Ivan Demidov."

- NHL Department of Player Safety
Is this really the message Gary Bettman and the league executives want to send when a star player is clearly targeted in an attempt to injure?
Especially knowing this..
This is really embarrassing!
"The NHL only fines Nick Cousins for the dirty slash on Ivan Demidov last night."
