Clearly, the winner of the 2025 Calder Trophy in the National Hockey League is already aware.
In the past few hours, during an interview with Elliotte Friedman on the 32 Thoughts podcast, Steve Mayer made a very interesting statement.

We know that the 2025 Calder Trophy winner will be announced by next Thursday, and Lane Hutson is unanimously the favorite to win it (so there shouldn't be any surprise?), but still.. Here's what Mayer said.
Mayer is indeed the NHL's Chief Content Officer:
Elliotte Friedman: "Of all the (NHL awards) you've taped so far, which one had the best reaction? That people are gonna look at and say either 'wow' or 'I love this.'"
Steve Mayer: "I think the Masterton (Sean Monahan) is really good. The Calder was also a different reaction than we expected or thought. That was really good.. I think those two in particular are very emotional and will get a great response."

Mayer's response sparked a lot of reactions on social media over the past few hours (mostly from Montreal Canadiens fans).
Is there a big surprise? Did the NHL snub Lane Hutson?
In any case, we know the winner had an unexpected reaction, and we know the winner is already aware (the video has already been filmed).
