We already have a response from Ivan Demidov and the Montreal Canadiens following the request to return to the KHL involving him.
Let's recall that in the past few hours, the new head coach of SKA St. Petersburg, Igor Larionov, made a clear request: he wants to bring Ivan Demidov back to the KHL.
His goal is to bring Demidov back to SKA next season, for one final campaign, before officially allowing him to make the jump to the National Hockey League (for the 2026-27 season).

Despite SKA's efforts, admittedly a bit unexpected, the expectation remains that Ivan Demidov will suit up in a Montreal Canadiens uniform next season.
He will also be the favorite, barring a surprise, to win the 2025-26 Calder Trophy, awarded to the NHL's rookie of the year.
