It definitely feels like the end for a forward within the Montreal Canadiens organization who was drafted in the second round in 2021.
Clearly, it feels like the end for him within the Habs organization.
Change involving three players, including Riley Kidney, announced within the Montreal Canadiens organization
"Forward Joe Dunlap has been recalled from the Trois-Rivières Lions. Forward Riley Kidney and defenseman Darick Louis-Jean have been reassigned to the Trois-Rivières Lions."
- Laval Rocket
Kidney is thus moving a little farther away from Montreal.
Riley Kidney, only 22 years old, is a 5-foot-11, 188-pound forward who was indeed a second-round pick by the Montreal Canadiens in 2021 (63rd overall). He has recorded 0 points in 1 game this season with the Laval Rocket and 1 point in 1 game with the Trois-Rivières Lions.
He had tallied 110 points and 100 points in his last two junior seasons (in the QMJHL), but only 36 points in his first two seasons with the Laval Rocket.
"Another demotion for Riley Kidney.
Reminder: Kidney, a 2nd-round pick by the Canadiens in 2021, is currently in the final year of his entry-level contract."
- Max Truman
Joe Dunlap, 25 years old, is a 6-foot, 190-pound forward who has collected 3 points in 3 games this season with the Trois-Rivières Lions, played one game with the Laval Rocket, and recorded 22 points in 39 games in his last NCAA season (with Ohio State).
We'll keep an eye on whether this marks the final chapter of Kidney's journey within the Canadiens organization. Story to follow!
