In recent days, several have suggested the possibility of seeing star forward Artemi Panarin traded to the Montreal Canadiens.
"The experts from The Sick Podcast just brought up the name of Artemi Panarin: Demidov's playmaking from the wing.
Some coincidences:
Panarin is on year 7 of a 11.6M$ AAV contract signed with Jeff Gorton.
MTL is projected to have 18M$ cap space at the deadline."
However, we can apparently forget about that possibility.
Jeff Gorton seems to have already confirmed that the Montreal Canadiens are not specifically interested in acquiring a player like Artemi Panarin
As Marco D'Amico points out, during a previous interview, Jeff Gorton seemingly already let slip a verdict concerning Panarin.
"We want to bring in players that play different styles to have more balance in our lineup." - Jeff Gorton
Very little chance they go and pay what will be a very high price for a similar player to Demidov in Panarin.
They're looking for a different profile.
- Marco D'Amico
That's interesting. And it's definitely something to keep in mind when you read about other proposed trade rumors linking Panarin to the Montreal Canadiens.
Artemi Panarin, 33 years old, is a star forward standing 6 feet tall and weighing 176 pounds. He recorded 89 points in 80 games last season, and 120 points in 82 games (including 49 goals) the year before.
He has also produced, on two separate occasions, at a rate of 113 points per season.
