Young Defenseman Slips Up Live and Reveals the Canadiens Want to Acquire Him
TVA Sports journalist Anthony Martineau is doing an incredible job covering the prospects eligible for the 2025 NHL Draft.
He's interviewing almost all of them, at least those projected to go in the first round, and he's asking them solid questions.
What's also interesting is that these are young players who are relatively inexperienced in front of the media and don't necessarily have the filter that some NHL veterans have during interviews.
On that note, there's one young defenseman who said quite a bit about Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens. We love it.
Radim Mrtka reveals that the Montreal Canadiens really want to acquire him, in his opinion!
It's not all that surprising, as he has a very intriguing profile, but here's what he told the TVA Sports journalist.
"I felt a lot of interest from the Habs throughout the season. I spoke with people from the organization very often. I also met them here. They don't think I'll be available at 16, but I feel like they're hoping I will be."
Radim Mrtka, as reported by Anthony Martineau
Let's just say there's not much room for interpretation here.
The Canadiens are clearly hoping Mrtka will still be available at 16th overall, at least based on what he understood from his meetings with them.
If he's still on the board at pick 16, don't be surprised if he's the Habs' selection!
The young defenseman also added that he would form a solid pairing with
Lane Hutson and that he wants to become a
Moritz Seider-type player, which would be fantastic for his career!
At 17 years old, Mrtka is a 6-foot-6, 207-pound right-handed defenseman who recorded 35 points in 43 games this season in the WHL, after previously playing in the pro league in Czechia.
