Hughes's Upcoming Meeting With Top 5 Draft Prospect Hints at a Potential Trade for the Canadiens
Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens are very active as they prepare for the 2025 NHL Draft.
The Canadiens Are Meeting with Top Prospect Caleb Desnoyers This Week
It's interesting not only because Desnoyers is an excellent centerman, but also because the Canadiens would need to pull off a trade to acquire him.
There's no way he falls to the 16th pick.
This confirms that the Habs are exploring the option of moving up in the draft order, potentially to get their hands on Desnoyers (who some say is a better prospect than Alexis Lafrenière was).
This obviously doesn't confirm that the Canadiens will make a trade to move up, but it does confirm that Kent Hughes is seriously considering the option, at the very least.
Depending on how this meeting goes, things could get very interesting ahead of the draft, especially since the 4th overall pick is openly available for trade.
What would your offer be to the Mammoth for that pick?
Caleb Desnoyers, age 18, is a 6-foot-2, 178-pound center who racked up 84 points in 56 games this season in the QMJHL, including 35 goals.
He also added an impressive 30 points in 19 playoff games with the Moncton Wildcats.
