There have been several comments in recent days regarding the amount of ice time given by Martin St-Louis to defenseman Arber Xhekaj.
During his press conference yesterday before the game against the Seattle Kraken, the head coach of the Montreal Canadiens expressed his desire to give Xhekaj a bigger role in his lineup.
Martin St-Louis clearly stated that he wanted to make an effort to give "Jacko" more ice time.
Martin St. Louis on Arber Xhekaj's ice time:
"Everything that happens on the ice factors on why we do certain things. It could be the score, it could be anything. To [Xhekaj's] defence, there's some really good defencemen in front of him right now. Do we want to give him more? Yes, we do. He deserves more and we're going to try to do that. At the same time, he has to stack shift after shift"

Well, last night in Seattle, Martin St-Louis turned words into action.
Martin St-Louis Follows Through and Doubles Arber Xhekaj's Ice Time
Against the Kraken, St-Louis gave his young defenseman Arber Xhekaj twice (2X) as much ice time.
Even after just two periods, he had already easily surpassed his total from Saturday in Vancouver.
"Arber Xhekaj TOI tonight after 2 periods = 9:22; he only played 6:37 total on Saturday vs. Vancouver."

In the end, Xhekaj had a very solid game - he played nearly 12 minutes, was effective, delivered a strong body check, and blocked a dangerous shot.
It's really great to see Martin St-Louis backing up his words with action and not just saying he wants to play Xhekaj more!
