The captain of the Montreal Canadiens, Nick Suzuki, shared an interesting story last night following the team's victory over the Seattle Kraken.
First, let's recall that Suzuki made what looked like an absolutely incredible pass to
Cole Caufield on the Canadiens' first goal in Seattle:
Knowing Suzuki, it wouldn't have been surprising if he had the elite vision to intentionally make such a play to Caufield, but not this time!
Nick Suzuki Reveals That His Magical Pass to Cole Caufield Was a Complete Accident
Suzuki explained that he was trying to score, aiming to bank the puck off Daccord's skate and into the net.
Instead, it went between the skate blade and the pad.
"I tried to score, and it went right onto his stick.
So, it worked out pretty well." - Nick Suzuki
The masterful pass to Cole Caufield was therefore completely unplanned, but as the captain said, it worked out quite well in the end.
After another strong performance last night, Suzuki and Caufield continue to post incredible numbers early this season.
As we mentioned earlier today, Cole broke multiple records in yesterday's thrilling overtime win.
Caufield became the Canadiens' all-time leader in overtime goals with 11, surpassing former captain Max Pacioretty and Hall of Famer Howie Morenz, who each had 10.
Caufield, 24, now has 13 points in 11 games this season, including an impressive 9 goals, tied for first in the NHL!
Suzuki, 26, has 16 points in 11 games, including an incredible 14 assists.
