That said, we haven't heard much about what the Montreal Canadiens might give the St. Louis Blues in return.
Here's a potential idea.
A trade framework between Montreal and St. Louis involving Jordan Kyrou and Michael Matheson?
Here's what the excellent Marco D'Amico just said on BPM Sports:
"They want to spend more money on defense, so that becomes a bit problematic because there are better defensemen on the market right now, including Bowen Byram.
The trade, or the trade framework that everyone would go for, is Kyrou for Mike Matheson, and the Canadiens add something.
Jordan Kyrou has the same agent as Nick Suzuki, which is also the agency that represents Noah Dobson [...]."
- Marco D'Amico
He remains convinced that the Montreal Canadiens are still trying to acquire Kyrou via trade.
It seems the Blues want to swap a forward for a defenseman, so a Kyrou-for-Matheson base deal would make sense-though Montreal would obviously have to add!
This gives us a good sense of what might be in the works.
