Multiple Players Hit Waivers Just Hours Before Opening Night, Including Promising Goaltender

We once again have action on the NHL waiver wire today, and our first real surprise of the season comes courtesy of the Buffalo Sabres.
Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff just announced that goaltender Alexandar Georgiev will be placed on NHL waivers.. Wow!
Georgiev was considered practically an NHL star goaltender not so long ago, especially when he was the number one goalie for the Colorado Avalanche, but his career has taken a disappointing turn.
I'm curious to see if any team will take a chance on Georgiev!

Alexandar Georgiev placed on NHL waivers: the Montreal Canadiens have the sixteenth pick in the waiver order if Kent Hughes is interested
It's worth noting that the Canadiens retain the sixteenth waiver pick, even though the season starts today, because last season's standings still apply here.
In short, Georgiev is a story to follow!

Alexandar Georgiev, 29, is a 6-foot-1, 178-pound goaltender with 303 NHL games of experience.
In his career, he has a record of 151 wins, 108 losses, and 26 overtime losses, with a goals-against average of 2.98 and a save percentage of .903.
In 2023, he posted a 40-16-6 record, with a 2.51 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage, which is very solid!
Jeremy Davies, 28 years old, is a left-handed defenseman standing 5'11" and weighing 185 pounds. He's from Sainte-Anne-de-Belle, Quebec, and has recorded three points in 23 NHL games.
Juha Jaaska, 27 years old, is a 6-foot, 210-pound forward who collected four points in 18 games last season with the Carolina Hurricanes. He also added 33 points in 53 AHL games.
Kevin Rooney, 32 years old, is a 6 foot 2, 190-pound center who has tallied 60 points in 330 NHL games, including 10 points last season with the Calgary Flames.
