Canadiens Part Ways With Defenseman Recently Acquired From the Edmonton Oilers
As a result, some notable news items are flying under the radar - here's one of them.
As we recently reported, the Canadiens made the tough decision not to extend qualifying offers to forwards Xavier Simoneau and
Rafaël Harvey-Pinard.
They are now free as a bird.
That said, there is one more player - a final player - who has also been released by the Canadiens in the last few hours.
Noel Hoefenmayer Leaves the Montreal Canadiens Organization
"
Rafael Harvey-Pinard, Xavier Simoneau, and Noel Hoefenmayer are now free as air - officially unrestricted free agents."
- Anthony Marcotte
We wish him the best of luck moving forward.
At 26 years old, Noel Hoefenmayer is a left-handed defenseman standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 204 pounds.
He recorded 14 points in 32 games this season with the Laval Rocket (with a +6 rating) and was earning $775,000 per year.
Hoefenmayer was indeed acquired via trade by Kent Hughes and the Canadiens this past December, in exchange for forward
Jacob Perreault.
He seemed to be a player highly appreciated by head coach Pascal Vincent.
