The acquisition of Noah Dobson by the Montreal Canadiens is certainly one of the biggest trades-if not the biggest-made by the Hughes-Gorton tandem.
It's undoubtedly their greatest move since arriving with the Montreal Canadiens.
The right-handed defenseman is also having an excellent start to the season, and a former NHL player made a statement confirming that the Canadiens' management went out and got an elite player.
Denis Gauthier also confirms that Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens hit a home run with the acquisition of Noah Dobson
During his appearance on The Sick Podcast with Tony Marinaro, former NHLer Denis Gauthier mentioned that Noah Dobson is probably the best defenseman to have played in the QMJHL in his first16 years of coaching.
"He's probably the best defenseman I've seen in my first 16 years of coaching-among the defensemen who played in the QMJHL."
- Denis Gauthier on Noah Dobson
During his three seasons in the QMJHL with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan and the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, Dobson won the President's Cup-now known as the Gilles-Courteau Trophy-and the Memorial Cup in back-to-back years (with the Titan in 2018 and the Huskies in 2019).
Dobson is currently proving Gauthier right, as he's having a strong start to the season with the Canadiens.
