In the end, Montembeault allowed two goals on 13 shots last night, once again delivering a brilliant performance, while Dobes stopped 7 of the 8 shots directed his way.
That said, we have an interesting update regarding the Montreal Canadiens' number one goaltender.
The excellent Dr. Harjas Grewal, who accurately predicted the injury suffered by
Patrik Laine during the preseason (and the duration of his absence), has just given his verdict concerning Montembeault.
A doctor weighs in on Samuel Montembeault's injury and the length of the Montreal Canadiens goalie's absence
"Possibly Montembeault has a hamstring strain and that's why he's left the game
Hopefully it's more a cramp and he's potentially even back for the 3rd
Otherwise muscular strains can be quite variable and harder for goalies to compensate"
Dr. Harjas Grewal
He thus leaves the door open for possibly seeing Montembeault suited up tomorrow night at the Bell Centre, if it's only a cramp, but otherwise he states that it will be more difficult for Monty to manage.
As you know, lower-body injuries are always very difficult to predict and manage for a goaltender.
One thing is certain, Monty was clearly uncomfortable before leaving the game.
We will definitely keep monitoring this for you.
