Patrik Laine May Be on the Verge of Giving the Canadiens an Unexpected Gift

Patrik Laine is getting a lot of attention this summer, and it's absolutely for the right reasons.
He decided to practically spend the entire summer in Montreal, he mentioned that he now considers himself more and more as a Quebecer (and not a European), and he has emphasized many times how much he loves playing for the Canadiens.
It should also be noted that Laine is putting in absolutely every effort to earn another contract here.
A new contract for Patrik Laine with the Canadiens?
"I'm told that Patrik Laine REALLY loves Montreal and the Canadiens organization. I think that if I could have programmed an animation on the word REALLY, I would have done it." - Max Truman
He adds that Laine truly sees himself staying in Montreal for the coming seasons, even if his contract ends next summer, and from this we understand that he might even agree to give a big gift to the Canadiens by agreeing to sign at a discount.
Of course, let's recall that his current contract, which pays him $8.7 million per year, ends at the end of the 2025-2026 season.
Personally, especially if he does indeed agree to give Kent Hughes a gift and leave money on the table, I really believe we could benefit from bringing him back for the 2026-2027 season (if he has a good 2025-2026 season, of course).
In any case, the desire is clearly there for Laine right now!
