Kent Hughes Managed to Hit It Out of the Park by Drafting the Forward With the Best Hands, Says Scout
Since the Montreal Canadiens had traded their first-round picks to the Islanders in the Noah Dobson deal, they had to wait. They had to wait until the start of the second round before seeing a young prospect selected by the Habs.
With the 34th overall pick, Kent Hughes and his hockey staff finally set their sights on young forward
Alexander Zharovsky, who recorded 50 points in 45 games with Tolpar Ufa in the MHL, the junior league over there, where he was also named Rookie of the Year.
That said, we can probably already call this a steal by the organization, and Simon Boisvert had more to say about Zharovsky.
Successful Acquisition by the Montreal Canadiens with Alexander Zharovsky
During the Processus podcast episode following the draft session, Boisvert - also known as "The Snake" - said the Canadiens' first pick has the best hands in the 2025 class.
"Zharovsky has the best hands in the entire draft."
- Simon Boisvert
Let's just say that with a statement like that, expectations are bound to be high.
That said, fans will have to be patient before seeing Alexander Zharovsky in a Canadiens uniform, as he's expected to play at least one more season in the KHL.
One thing's for sure, Kent Hughes really seems to have nailed this pick - and it's an exciting development for the future.
