Canadiens Complete Trade with Hurricanes to Land Top Skilled Forward
It didn't take long for Kent Hughes to get to work on this second day of the draft and at the start of the second round.
First, the Canadiens completed a trade with the Carolina Hurricanes to move up in the draft order.
The Canadiens acquire the 34th and 189th overall picks from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for the 41st and 49th overall picks in the 2025 NHL Draft.
- Montreal Canadiens
Then, with the 34th overall pick, the Canadiens selected forward
Alexander Zharovsky from Ufa Jr. in the MHL.
The initial reactions to this Habs pick appear unanimous.. It's an excellent pick, and all signs point to him being very high on Montreal's draft board!
He was likely in their top 25!
A strong move by the Canadiens, live from Los Angeles!
"The word on the floor is that a lot of teams were hoping for Alex Zharovsky would fall to them.
A few trusted hockey minds have praised it as a high-up side pick.
Explains why the Canadiens were so aggressive in trading up for him."
- Marco D'Amico
We can't wait to see Zharovsky in action.
