It's rare that we revisit a missed penalty by the referees the day after a Montreal Canadiens game, but this one is something else.
There's one particular sequence that's getting a lot of attention today, as forward
Josh Anderson was literally driven headfirst into the boards midway through the third period (by a Sabres defenseman), a sequence that could have gone very wrong for him, but fortunately, he came out of it uninjured.
A major mistake by the referees on Montreal Canadiens forward Josh Anderson
Yet, the referee was right next to the play and clearly saw what happened:
Let's just say it doesn't send a great message for a league that claims to want to better protect its players.
It's hard to understand how this wasn't called a penalty.
Anyway, let's recall that the Montreal Canadiens won 4-2 last night against the Sabres, as Martin St-Louis' squad earned a solid victory before their Western road trip.
For Kapanen, it was already his fourth (4th) goal of the season, while Evans and Hutson each scored their first of the year.
Dobes now has a record of 3-0-0 this season, with a goals-against average of 1.63 and a save percentage of .939.
The Canadiens are currently tied for first in the Eastern Conference with 10 points.
