The Montreal Canadiens had quite the return from the 4 Nations Face-Off break, but for some time now, their momentum seems to be fading.

Since the game against the New York Islanders, Martin St-Louis' squad has allowed no fewer than 21 goals.
In comparison, they had allowed just 25 goals in 11 games since returning from the break-prior to these last four games.
Despite all this and despite four straight losses, the Habs are still hanging on to the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
However, their 75 points this season are very fragile right now, as you can see below.

The Montreal Canadiens' stroke of luck in their misfortune and some good news under the circumstances: Patrick Roy's Islanders are losing too

The truth is, the Habs aren't the only team losing steam lately.
In fact, every team in the Eastern Conference playoff race is in the same boat as the Canadiens.
The New York Islanders, New York Rangers, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Detroit Red Wings have all failed to take advantage of their rivals' slumps.
It's pretty ironic, because when the Habs were winning, all the other teams were winning too.
It's as if every team in the race has been on the same rollercoaster for weeks.
The upcoming games will be tough for the Habs, starting with tonight's matchup in Carolina.
They'll then face the Florida Panthers twice, the Boston Bruins, a rematch with the Philadelphia Flyers, and the Nashville Predators to wrap up the next week.
According to Tankathon, the Habs currently have the 22nd-easiest remaining schedule until the end of the season.
But as we saw earlier, that's mostly due to next week's matchups.
So, if Montreal can stay afloat over the next few days, their chances of making a strong push are very good.
It really seems like it's coming down to the Habs and Patrick Roy's Islanders-but the Islanders will also need to start winning again if they want to make the playoffs.
