Canadiens emerge as suitors for Alexandre Texier after his contract is terminated

We have two new late-breaking developments regarding forward Alexandre Texier and the Montreal Canadiens.
First, he has just been placed on unconditional waivers by the St. Louis Blues (he was on regular waivers earlier this week), and second, we've just received confirmation that Kent Hughes is on his case.

"Hearing that 9 teams have shown interest in the soon to be free agent but it's down to two Eastern Conference teams that Texier and agent Dan Milstein are deciding on."

Elliotte Friedman had already linked Texier to the Canadiens just before he hit waivers. This will be a major story to follow over the next few hours!
Texier, 26, is a fast 6-foot-1, 196-pound forward who was a second-round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2017.
He has a solid 91 points in 240 career NHL games, including 40 goals, and he has posted 11 points (in 31 games), 30 points (in 78 games) and 20 points (in 36 games) over the past few seasons.
