We had a surprise on the NHL waiver wire today coming from the New York Rangers, and it's an interesting development for the Montreal Canadiens.
We know the Canadiens recently acquired Alexandre Texier, who had also been placed on NHL waivers in recent days, but Texier is a winger.
Now, Finnish centerman Juuso Parssinen who was a healthy scratch in the Rangers' 3-2 win over the St. Louis Blues on Monday, has been placed on waivers and surprisingly available.

This will definitely be a situation to watch closely for Montreal Canadiens fans.
Juuso Parssinen, 24 years old, is a center (a left-handed one, too) standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 207 pounds.
He was a 7th-round pick by the Nashville Predators in 2019 (210th overall) and has collected 56 points in 151 career NHL games, including 22 goals. He notably put up a solid 25 points in 45 games during his rookie season in Nashville.
As for his contract, it's a deal valid through 2027 with an annual value of $1.25 million per year. Quietly, Parssinen has been used as the New York Rangers' second-line center for several games this season (filling in for Vincent Trocheck, who was injured).
