Buckle Up - Top Prospect Could Join Canadiens Lineup Sooner Than Expected
One of the reasons why young Montreal Canadiens forward Alexander Zharovsky slipped in the draft is, of course, his nationality.
NHL teams are always hesitant to draft players with contracts in the KHL because you never really know when those players will finally be available to come to North America.
In the end, it wasn't a problem with Ivan Demidov, and clearly, it won't be a problem with his childhood friend, the Canadiens' 34th overall pick in 2025, Alexander Zharovsky.
Good news about the earlier-than-expected arrival of young Alexander Zharovsky with the Montreal Canadiens
In a recent article, Marco D'Amico recently spoke about the possibility of an earlier arrival for Alexander Zharovsky with the Montreal Canadiens, but now there's already an update.
All of this confirms our initial impression.
And if you needed another clue, here's one.
As reported by Félix Forget (DLC) about young Alexander Zharovsky, his KHL team is facing serious financial problems.
That means that, even though Zharovsky is under contract there until 2027.. don't be surprised if he's released earlier.
"Salavat Yulaev (the KHL team Zharovsky is expected to play for this year) is facing major financial issues..
Our colleague Charles-Alexis mentioned the possibility of the Canadiens offering a little sweetener to bring Zharovsky over earlier than expected, after all.. "

Bringing Zharovsky to Montreal likely won't be a problem at all.
In my opinion, as soon as Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton decide that Zharovsky is ready, they'll quickly reach an agreement with his KHL team, and he'll be on his way to Montreal.. well before 2027!
