There are three things we currently know regarding Quebec-born goaltender Marc-André Fleury and the Edmonton Oilers.
First, Fleury is technically retired at the moment.
Second, Fleury is a huge hockey lover, who is surely asking himself some big questions these days.
And third, Fleury's agent has dropped a few hints on social media over the past few days about the possibility of seeing the Quebec goalie return for one final NHL season.
Knowing all of this-and knowing that the Edmonton Oilers STILL need a goaltender-well, an intriguing rumor has just surfaced.
Let's remember this is just a rumor, but let's just say it's very interesting!
Marc-André Fleury has been linked to the Oilers. He could, in fact, be a very intriguing solution for Edmonton!
"On that note, Allan Mitchell (The Athletic) notably suggested that the Oilers look in the direction of Marc-André Fleury to find a backup for
Stuart Skinner for next season.
We know he's retired and that other teams have already tried to bring him back to the NHL."
- Charles-Alexis Brisebois
So this is definitely a situation to keep an eye on, and it's certain that Fleury must be tempted to return to the ice-but we still don't know how seriously he's considering the idea.
One thing's for sure, he would be a huge reinforcement for the Edmonton Oilers in net-and they desperately need it right now.
