We have a move to announce from the Montreal Canadiens.
The organization has just announced that it has recalled defenseman
Marc Del Gaizo from the Laval Rocket, and he is arriving immediately as reinforcements.
Kent Hughes makes a move and brings in a defenseman from the Laval Rocket as reinforcements
The fact that Del Gaizo did not travel with the team, and that he now has to immediately join them in Columbus, is an interesting detail!
If Kent Hughes only wanted an insurance policy, a seventh defenseman, and if this was already planned, why not have him travel with the team last night?
The announcement of the recall is right here:
"The Canadiens have recalled defenseman Marc Del Gaizo from the Laval Rocket. He will join the team in Columbus."
- Montreal Canadiens
Marc Del Gaizo, 26 years old, is a 5-foot-11, 188-pound defenseman who was a fourth-round pick of the Nashville Predators in 2019.
He's a left-shot defenseman, and he has played 55 career NHL games (all with Nashville), recording two goals, 10 assists (12 points), 23 penalty minutes, and maintaining a -1 plus/minus rating.
I'm really looking forward to seeing whether this is simply an "insurance" recall, or if this roster move is hiding a more significant piece of news.
