The Montreal Canadiens' 2025 training camp will finally kick off in less than a month, and we therefore have several storylines to keep an eye on.
It promises to be one of the most interesting camps in a while in Montreal..
- Who will be the other winger on the second line with
Ivan Demidov?
- Who will be the team's backup goalie?
- Who will be THE surprise of camp?
Pierre McGuire suggests the Montreal Canadiens place Patrik Laine in the "bumper" role on the power play
McGuire has big expectations for the Canadiens' five-man unit.
"It's clear that the Canadiens had become way too predictable last season with Patrik Laine on the right side of the net.
Pierre McGuire therefore suggested a potential solution: to move Laine to the middle of the power play, in the slot, in the 'bumper' position."
- Mathis Therrien
This could also allow Cole Caufield to return to his usual spot, which could be interesting!
Pierre McGuire: "I would be really disappointed if the powerplay wasn't 24% or higher"
We highly recommend the full episode, but regardless of the strategy Martin St-Louis adopts, I truly believe Ivan Demidov must be on the first unit, especially if the team wants to reach the 24% target set by McGuire.
