In the last few days, the trade rumors have intensified a lot and that's perfectly normal, because the 2022 NHL draft is approaching very quickly (there are often major trades made near the draft).
We've suspected for a while that Kent Hughes would like to move up, in the first round, and it's now confirmed.
According to reliable reports from the Ottawa Sun, the Montreal Canadiens' general manager is currently trying to make a big trade, and his target is nothing less than a top-10 pick.
As Alex Desrosiers reports, he has reportedly contacted the New Jersey Devils (2nd pick), Arizona Coyotes (3rd pick), Seattle Kraken (4th pick), Philadelphia Flyers (5th pick), Columbus Blue Jackets (6th pick), Detroit Red Wings (8th pick), Buffalo Sabres (9th pick) and Anaheim Ducks (10th pick).
Remember that the Montreal Canadiens have the 1st overall pick and the 26th overall pick in the first round of the 2022 NHL Draft (and 14 overall picks). So don't be surprised if Gary Bettman shows up at the podium, in the middle of the Bell Centre, to announce a deal involving the CH and a top-10 pick.
