The situation of goaltenders this year for the Habs has been quite special.

Missing Carey Price since the start of the season and Jake Allen for almost two months, the coaches, Dominique Ducharme first and then Martin St-Louis, had to manage with that, and it must be admitted , Samuel Montembeault still looked good under the circumstances.

The Quebec goaltender was very solid in his last game against the Edmonton Oilers and even newcomer Andrew Hammond was solid in the three games he played, but the latter suffered an upper injury body lately.

Good news was at the rendezvous for the Canadiens concerning the goalkeepers.

First, Carey Price has been back in practice on the ice for a few days. We still don't know the date of a potential return to play, but just seeing him skate is a good sign. And as for Jake Allen, he could return to the game within 14 days, according to Renaud Lavoie.

At least that's what he mentioned during his appearance on the JiC show on TVA Sports. He also raised the possibility of Allen being traded by March 21st but according to him it's unlikely.

Lavoie had less good news about Hammond. The latter was injured in last Thursday's game in Calgary and according to him, he could already have played his last game with the Canadiens, assuming of course that Jake Allen returns to play very soon.

Because, if the Canadiens find themselves with a surplus of goaltenders, Hammond would be the one who would take over Laval.

One thing is certain, there will be big decisions to be made in net.
