We have just learned that a young defenseman has left the Montreal Canadiens organization.
Christopher Merisier-Ortiz, or Chris Ortiz, has just signed a one-year deal with the Wheeling Nailers.
His time within the Canadiens' organization is now officially over, and it's unfortunate because he was one of those who seemed to truly have the potential to climb the ranks within the organization.
Seeing him with the Montreal Canadiens in the NHL would have been a surprise, but I believe he was a solid prospect for the Laval Rocket.
Chris Ortiz leaves the Montreal Canadiens organization
In any case, we sincerely wish him the best of luck moving forward.

This refers to the team affiliated with the Pittsburgh Penguins. So, he is now part of the Pittsburgh Penguins organization.
Ortiz, 23 years old and originally from Boisbriand, is a left-handed defenseman standing 5 feet 11 inches and weighing 180 pounds.
Last season, he recorded 37 points in 69 games with the Lions, and he also has 5 points in the American Hockey League (AHL).
We are also talking about a defenseman who played with the Baie-Comeau Drakkar and the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in the QMJHL.
Notably, he recorded 24 points in 24 games with the Armada in 2021.
