Last Saturday night, the Montreal Canadiens hosted the Edmonton Oilers at the Bell Centre. The Canadiens' fans gave a rather intense reception to the NHL's top player, Connor McDavid, consistently booing him every time he had the puck.
Speaking on TSN, the Oilers' captain didn't hesitate to comment on this somewhat unusual situation, making a significant statement about the Canadiens. When asked about the repeated booing, number 97 mentioned that he loves playing in Montreal, adding that the Blue-White-Red has incredible fans.
Clearly, the fans' treatment does not seem to distract Connor McDavid, who says he uses it as additional motivation to perform well. However, despite these comments, the forward seems to have some difficulty producing offensively in front of the Montreal crowd, having only scored two goals and eight assists in thirteen career games there.
After a slow start to the season, the forward is finally back to his usual ways with an impressive total of 58 points in 38 games. Moreover, since his arrival in the NHL, the Oilers' forward has shown incredible statistics, accumulating 319 goals and 589 assists (908 points) in 607 games.
