Cole Caufield's next contract: Jeff Gorton gives important information
Where would the Habs be without the top three? Nick Suzuki is in the first year of an eight-year contract, Kirby Dach is on a four-year deal, but Cole Caufield will be a free agent at the end of the current campaign.
Signing Caufield is a priority, not only from a fan standpoint, but from an organizational standpoint as well. He has the potential to be the team's leading scorer for quite some time and he is only 21 years old.
As a guest on the Sick Podcast with Tony Marinaro, Jeff Gorton gave some inside information about a contract extension for Cole Caufield:

That is to say, both sides are currently negotiating a contract extension and the Habs staff is very confident that they will reach a deal with number 22. That's enough to reassure fans, who want to continue to see the first trio wreak havoc for a long time.
