We know that veteran defenseman Joel Edmundson will be back in action soon, and we know that when he returns, a defenseman will have to bail out.

Many purists believe that it absolutely has to be a lefty (who has to bail out), but others feel that it wouldn't be the end of the world to bring out a righty, even if a lefty is inserted in Edmundson.

Former goaltending coach Stéphane Waite, who appeared on the 98.5 Sports show with Mario Langlois, made a statement that is causing a stir.

According to him, Arber Xhekaj could be the one who will get the nod when Edmundson returns (Xhekaj or Chris Wideman).

When Edmundson returns, Stephane Waite is thinking of taking Wideman or Xhekaj out of the lineup, ahead of Kovacevic:

"I know we've been high on Xhekaj, but he makes a lot of mistakes" -Stephane Waite

- A 98.5 Sports publication

He explains that Xhekaj is making a lot of mistakes right now and that he may have to bail out, despite the fans' infatuation with the young giant-sized defenseman.

Remember also that Mike Matheson will eventually return to the game. See his explanation:

We can deduce that Stephane Waite believes that Arber Xhekaj will not be part of the Montreal Canadiens' top-6 defense when the defensive brigade is 100% healthy.

Do you think Matheson and Edmundson will replace Xhekaj and Wideman? Do you think it would be a mistake to take Arber Xhekaj out of the lineup?

This will be something to keep an eye on, with Joel Edmundson and Mike Matheson returning to the lineup.

Remember that Edmundson, Matheson, Xhekaj, Kaiden Guhle and Jordan Harris are all left handed.
