The suspense over the Arizona Coyotes' destiny has finally come to an end!
The City Council of Tempe voted today on the approval of the Arizona Coyotes' new arena project, a staggering investment estimated at 2.1 billion USD (2.83 billion CAD).
The council grappled with the decision, considering the substantial financial commitment the project necessitated.
«We are very disappointed Tempe voters did not approve Propositions 301, 302, and 303. As Tempe Mayor Corey Woods said, it was the best sports deal in Arizona history. The Coyotes wish to thank everyone who supported our efforts and voted yes."
Indeed, the Council has not granted approval for the Coyotes' proposed arena. Consequently, the team must seek an alternate location for their new arena.
This gives rise to conjecture about the future for the Coyotes' stadium, with relocation seemingly the sole viable option.
In this climate of uncertainty, the question remains: where will the Coyotes eventually find a home, and could a move to Canada, where a stadium is assured, be on the cards? The NHL will soon meet with Arizona Coyotes ownership to determine next steps for the franchise
