A transaction between the Montreal Canadiens and the Edmonton Oilers is making waves today. Everyone said it was an insignificant trade back on December 6, when Kent Hughes traded Jacob Perreault in exchange for Noel Hoefenmayer.
However, today, this transaction is having a significant impact on young
Logan Mailloux.
Logan Mailloux is directly impacted by the acquisition of Noel Hoefenmayer
As reported by the excellent Anthony Marcotte of BPM Sports, the player acquired from Edmonton has "pushed" Logan Mailloux out of the Rocket's power play.
More and more, Hoefenmayer is taking Mailloux's minutes, and it's having a significant impact on the Logan's production.

This transaction is, therefore, a blow to Logan Mailloux.
Hoefenmayer, 25 years old, is a 6-foot-1, 204-pound defenseman who has tallied 1 point in 3 games this season with the Laval Rocket.
Before that, he had accumulated 7 points in 11 games with the Oilers' farm team.
Mailloux, 21 years old, is a young 6-foot-3, 213-pound defenseman.
He has recorded 15 points in 23 games this season with the Laval Rocket, as well as three points in five games with the Canadiens.
This will be a situation to monitor in the coming weeks within the Canadiens' organization.
Let's truly hope that Mailloux can bounce back because we all know his immense potential, and he could really become a key player, long-term, for the Montreal Canadiens.
