I was telling you about it literally just a few minutes ago, but the number one goaltender of the Montreal Canadiens, Samuel Montembeault, did not disappoint me.

After a difficult weekend and a rough start to the season for him, Montembeault hit the ice extremely early today.
He has already started putting in extra time, already started doing what it takes to get his season back on track - and that sends quite a message to his head coach!
"Samuel Montembeault is on the ice very early this morning."

- Karine Hains
"Samuel Montembeault and Lane Hutson are the first two players on the ice."

- Anthony Martineau

Samuel Montembeault sends his message to Martin St-Louis: he's ready to work very hard to regain his coach's trust!

That's exactly the message Montembeault needed to send to his bosses!
He's not going to just sit there with his arms crossed, hoping his season improves... he's working to make it happen!
This doesn't necessarily mean Martin St-Louis took the message lightly, but he made it clear earlier today that Montembeault won't be in net tonight, confirming that Dobes will get the nod against the Sabres, even if he surely appreciated the gesture.
Let's remember, of course, that the Quebec goaltender is fully aware that he needs to give more...
So this will be a situation to keep an eye on, but Montembeault has made his message clear: he wants to give more!
It's also perfectly consistent with the message he sent Saturday night, taking the blame during his post-game press conference after the team's defeat.
Samuel Montembeault, 28 years old, has a record of 2-2-0 this season, with a goals-against average of 3.26 and a tougher save percentage of .857.
More details to come.
