Before becoming the 31st captain in the history of the Montreal Canadiens, Nick Suzuki was able to have another great leader as a mentor in Shea Weber.

The big number 6 was an excellent mentor for the young captain Suzuki when he was named (only 23 years old).
He continues to be so, as the recent Hockey Hall of Fame inductee offered his help to number 14 if he ever felt the need. Here is what Weber had to say on the day the Habs honored him following his induction:
"I spoke to him in Toronto, and last night [Friday] we talked over dinner and I was very clear with him in telling him not to be afraid to call me.

There's no pressure, but I'm here to listen if he needs to talk, even if he just wants to get something off his chest for 30 minutes."

Another great NHL player, Sidney Crosby, also gave valuable advice to the young captain.
Although the two don't play on the same team, they crossed paths during the NHL media tour in Las Vegas in 2022.
The new Canadiens captain had lost his luggage, and therefore had no pants to wear to face the media.
It was a pair of pants belonging to none other than the famous number 87 that ended up helping Suzuki out.
"Since it was Sidney Crosby's birthday (yesterday), here's a funny anecdote about him with a Canadiens player.

When Nick Suzuki went to the NHL media tour in Las Vegas in 2022, his luggage was lost.

Luckily for him, a tailor for NHL players was in town and lent him a custom pair of jeans belonging to a certain Sidney Crosby.

Nick, who had never met Sid, was apparently embarrassed at the idea of introducing himself at first."

Suzuki eventually ran into Crosby in the hotel lobby and took the opportunity, quite nervously it must be said, to thank the veteran NHL player.
The Penguins captain's reaction was in line with the man he is: simple.
He also took the opportunity to give Suzuki a valuable piece of advice-learn French.
"Thanks for the pants," said Nick Suzuki to Sidney Crosby, whom he had never spoken to in his life.

"He was aware, so he started laughing.

That allowed me to break the ice and approach him fairly easily."

Suzuki seemed shy about introducing himself to Crosby, but he ultimately discovered that he was very approachable.

The Canadiens' vice president of communications, Chantal Machabée, who accompanied Suzuki to Las Vegas, had told him several times that Crosby was a good role model for him in terms of interaction with the media and the public.

It was during this conversation in the hotel lobby that Suzuki received an unexpected piece of advice from Crosby, who encouraged him to learn French."

We all know that Crosby tries his best to speak French during his visits to the city.
We also know that the advice was taken to heart by the Canadiens' captain, as it has already been revealed that he is taking courses to learn the french language.
He still seems somewhat shy to speak it in public.
That didn't stop him from greeting the crowd in French during the last regular season game.
