Marco Rossi traded to the Canadiens? Last-minute development
The renowned journalist David Pagnotta has just made an intriguing statement involving forward Marco Rossi and the Montreal Canadiens.
He clearly believes that Martin Necas and Trevor Zegras are very plausible options for the Canadiens on the trade market, but he added a new name.
We are on the lookout for this information because, let's remember, Kirby Dach and Alex Newhook were not heavily linked to the Canadiens before their respective acquisitions.
There were a few articles linking Dach and Newhook to the Canadiens, but not much more than that.
It was more a name like Pierre-Luc Dubois that attracted all the attention, so don't be surprised if, once again this year, Kent Hughes pulls a rabbit out of his hat.
While everyone is talking about Martin Necas and Trevor Zegras, don't be surprised if the Canadiens' general manager turns instead to a Cole Perfetti, a Jack Quinn... or a Marco Rossi!
A trade between Montreal and Minnesota involving Marco Rossi? David Pagnotta just added fuel to the fire
Here's what the insider just mentioned.
«The Canadiens have some space to play with (under the salary cap) and that could help them this summer.
They have been linked to Trevor Zegras of Anaheim. Ottawa is ready to listen to offers for Josh Norris, who has suffered multiple injuries recently, but I don't see the Senators and the Canadiens making a major trade.
Marco Rossi from Minnesota is available on the trade market and he aligns perfectly with Montreal Canadiens' past draft trades. [...]
Montreal will explore their options, both at center and wing. They want to add another scorer one way or another, and they have the assets to make it happen.»
- David Pagnotta, who adds that trade discussions are really starting to heat up in the NHL, about twelve days before the much-anticipated 2024 draft Trades are going to start being announced soon, and Pagnotta doesn't mention this just for fun. He knows something, so we are really eager to see what happens next.
We will have action over the next 12 days, and don't be surprised if the Montreal Canadiens have a new young, very talented forward in 12 days. (a new Alex Newhook or Kirby Dach)
Marco Rossi, 22, was the 9th overall pick in 2020 (First Round) and he has accumulated 40 points in 82 games this season in the NHL with the Minnesota Wild.
Last season, he accumulated 51 points in 53 games in the American Hockey League (AHL).
