Journalist Trege Wilson has just released a surprising trade offer involving Martin Necas and Justin Barron between the Montreal Canadiens and the Carolina Hurricanes.

Canadiens fans are going to love it, because even though it doesn't come from a Montreal journalist and is from an impartial journalist, his proposal would be a real steal for Kent Hughes.

A trade offer involving Justin Barron or Jordan Harris, between the Montreal Canadiens and the Carolina Hurricanes, to acquire Martin Necas?

See Trege Wilson's post.

«I think giving up the #5 pick is too much. The guy had a good season and averages 55 points at 25 years old.

26th pick + Harris or Barron. The Canes have no leverage here.»

Interesting! I would be extremely surprised if that's all it takes to get Martin Necas in a trade, but if that's the case, Kent Hughes absolutely must do it in my opinion.

Certainly, the upcoming $7 million per year long-term contract could reduce Necas's value, but I still think it will take more than that.

Still, do you like Wilson's proposal?

To Carolina -

26th overall pick in 2024 (first-round pick from the Winnipeg Jets) + Jordan Harris or Justin Barron

A story to follow, especially knowing that Necas will almost certainly be traded within the next two weeks.

Martin Necas, 25 years old, who can play as a center or winger, is a first-round pick from 2017. He scored 53 points in 77 games this season (9 points in 11 playoff games) and he had 71 points last season.
