Kent Hughes reveals to Pierre Lebrun that he is working on closing a trade
The General Manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Kent Hughes, just revealed to journalist Pierre LeBrun that he is indeed working on closing a trade.
As the Habs want to start "turning the corner" with their rebuild, Hughes confirmed that he is active and will try to finalize a deal before the draft.
Hughes confirms that he would like to acquire a top-6 forward through a trade, and from what we hear, he is targeting the acquisition of a winger.
Kent Hughes is working hard to find a good trade for the Montreal Canadiens
See an excerpt from his statement.
«We know it's important to take a step forward. I think the magnitude of that step will to some extent depend on what we do or don't do this summer. We will try [to make a big trade]. We will explore all possibilities to improve our team.»
- Kent Hughes
It's therefore not surprising to hear that Kent Hughes is talking to the Carolina Hurricanes about
Martin Necas and to the Anaheim Ducks about
Trevor Zegras.
He is exploring all possibilities and wants to make moves to improve his team.
It promises to be an exciting next couple of weeks, and don't be surprised if the Canadiens announce one or two trades!
Let's not forget Kent Hughes' history at the draft, having closed two major trades in two drafts. (Acquisitions of
Kirby Dach and
Alex Newhook)
