In the last few minutes, it was announced that two players are leaving the Montreal Canadiens organization and that Kent Hughes is letting them go.
As you know, the summer season is fertile with acquisitions for a National Hockey League organization, but it is also fertile with departures.
We have just learned that two players are leaving the Canadiens organization and will not be returning next season.
First, there is Quebecer Nicolas Guay, who will continue his journey in Slovakia.
"Nicolas Guay signs in Slovakia. He has been a solid two-way forward for the Lions over the past two seasons." - Andrew Zadarnowski
We wish him the best of luck in the future.
It's surprising because he really seemed to be on a good development path, and he was starting to become a really interesting prospect for the Laval Rocket, but now he is suddenly leaving.
We have also just learned that Colin White, along with Tanner Pearson, will not be returning to the Montreal Canadiens to start the 2024-2025 season.
He was a client of Kent Hughes and really seemed to believe in him, but it just didn't work out in Montreal.
"White did not register a single point in his 17 games with Montreal and he would be released this summer" - Marco D'Amico, noting what several other sources confirm.
Nicolas Guay, 24 years old, 6 feet and 185 pounds, is a Quebec forward who has scored 70 points over the past two seasons with the Lions.
He was solid in the QMJHL. (notably 87 points in 64 games at the age of 19)
Colin White, 27 years old, 6 feet 1 inch and 194 pounds, is an American forward who has scored 113 points in 320 career NHL games.
He was drafted in the first round by the Ottawa Senators in 2015.
