We are now just a few days away from the trade deadline, and Canadiens fans are still waiting to find out which players Kent Hughes might send elsewhere.

Of course, there are names like Jake Allen, Cayden Primeau, Tanner Pearson, and Joel Armia, but none of them has or will have the value of a David Savard.
That said, speculation is rife regarding a potential trade involving the Quebec defenseman, and as reported by the site Marqueur.com, the Canadiens' GM could very well receive an offer that he simply cannot refuse.
At least that's what Arpon Basu, who covers the Canadiens for The Athletic, suggested.
According to him, David Savard's days in Montreal might be numbered, given that several teams are interested in acquiring him, notably the Boston Bruins according to David Pagnotta.
"David Savard will be traded: The Canadiens don't necessarily want to do it now, because they see Savard as an important leader on their team and they are sensitive to that after having already removed Sean Monahan from the lineup.

But with the demand apparently high for defenders who match Savard's profile - a physical shot blocker with a Stanley Cup ring - the market price could become so high that they would really have no choice but to accept it. The Canadiens are sensitive to what Savard represents for their young group, but they are also sensitive to asset management."

And the Boston Bruins really want him seriously.
Even though he has another year left on his contract next year, it is clear that his market value is excellent and that Kent Hughes could get a lot if he traded number 58 before this year's deadline.
However, it remains the fact that Savard is currently the pillar of the team's defense, alongside Michael Matheson, and that if the Canadiens are more competitive next year, he will be a very important asset for the young defensive brigade.
Case to follow.
